to read biographies of birds at the Raptor Center.Shaver's Creek is one of only a few facilities in central Pennsylvania licensed to conduct educational programs with permanently injured (nonreleasable) birds of prey. With approximately twenty birds of over a dozen species, the Raptor Center offers visitors an up close view of vultures, falcons, owls, hawks, and eagles.
The main goals of the Raptor Center include the conservation of these majestic birds through educational programs that promote the understanding and well-being of native raptors, as well as training students about the care and handling of raptors.
Volunteers provide over 2,500 hours of their time each year, and donations help offset the costs of the medical care and daily maintenance of the birds.
